What is SSAT :

  • Since curricula, teaching and assessment standards vary from school to school, the SSAT is used by some schools as a standardized admissions test to determine if a student can do the work at their school
  • The SSAT measures student ability. It is not an achievement test; therefore, it acts as a common denominator for schools in measuring a student’s academic capabilities, regardless of school record
  • The test is pure paper based, there is no Oral test and no Listening test

PSAT – Preliminary SAT

  • The PSAT is heavily connected to the SAT. One of the test's primary purposes is to act as a precursor to the SAT — essentially, as an SAT practice test
  • The PSAT and SAT heavily mirror each other in regard to content, structure, and even scoring.
  • The PSAT is slightly easier than the SAT and relatively fewer questions

Who should take the test :

  • Students preparing for SAT
  • Students who want to win a National Merit scholarship
  • Students who are preparing for a second attempt at the PSAT (if taking it as a sophomore)
  • PSAT can only be attended through high school

  • The PSAT is administered every autumn, usually starting in early or mid-October, on three dates: a primary date, a Saturday date, and an alternate date.
  • We advised students who are Year 8 or above to attend PSAT for a good preparation of the SAT
